During a fire emergency, rooms and corridors can rapidly fill with thick, dark smoke, severely diminishing visibility while fueling panic and fear among occupants. In these crucial moments, guiding everyone quickly and safely to the nearest escape route becomes a matter of life and death. However, grid failures or forced power cuts often accompany such emergencies, rendering standard electrical signboards completely useless just when they are needed most.
That is exactly why critical safety signs must be printed on specialized glow-in-the-dark material. Acting as a brilliant beacon in complete darkness, these night glow prints ensure that vital directional messages—such as arrows directing people to emergency exits—remain boldly visible under all circumstances, safely guiding everyone to security. Whether you manage a busy factory, a massive industrial complex, or a modern commercial building, safety is absolute and non-negotiable. Meeting strict regulatory safety codes requires accurate, day-and-night visible signage including emergency exits, fire exits, assembly points, and detailed floor maps. Glow-in-the-dark prints from Orchid Digitals are the ultimate choice to clearly convey instructions when it matters most.
Traditional illuminated signage fails during dark smoke congestion or sudden power outages. This is exactly where our night glow signs truly shine. Night glow media consists of a specialized vinyl featuring a high-density phosphorescent coating. This material naturally absorbs light during daylight hours and seamlessly emits it at night or in unexpected darkness, completely eliminating the need for electrical wiring or battery backups. Any safety message or direction printed on this medium remains highly visible due to its powerful radium glow.
During the day, they appear just like ordinary, professional printed signboards. But as soon as darkness falls, the chemicals within the phosphorescent topcoat begin to emit the stored light, causing the prints to shine brightly. The entire process operates much like a rechargeable phone battery. Over a long period in the dark, the brightness will gradually diminish and weaken, signaling that the media needs a recharge. Recharging is incredibly simple: just expose the print to any ambient light source, natural daylight, or artificial office lighting like tube lights. Placing the signboards near windows or under regular indoor lights ensures they dynamically charge during the day and stay fully prepared to glow all night. This continuous cycle keeps your emergency communication system completely reliable.
While all phosphorescent prints eventually experience fading, the rate of depletion varies drastically based on quality. Cheap, low-quality alternative prints start darkening and lose their glow within just a few minutes of a power failure, completely undermining the purpose of a safety sign. At Orchid Digitals, we use only premium, industry-standard brands like Wyte™ and DaoMing™ for our glow-in-the-dark vinyl rolls. These uncompromised media options feature a dense, thick phosphorus coating that absorbs massive amounts of light, enabling our safety prints to shine brightly in pitch-black settings for an hour, and sometimes even hours after the lights go out. This guaranteed longevity gives occupants ample time to escape safely.
Furthermore, we deliver exceptionally high-resolution prints featuring vibrant, crisp image quality that highlights every single detail of your safety graphics or text maps. Because safety signs are usually deployed in demanding industrial sheds, heavy factories, or outdoor locations, we do not compromise on inks. While competitors use cheap duplicate inks that fade quickly, we exclusively utilize branded, industrial-grade Mimaki UV inks. Mimaki is a global leader in printing technology, ensuring your emergency graphics deliver stunning, long-lasting visuals that will not deteriorate in harsh sunlight, heavy monsoon rain, or tough outdoor elements.
Depending on your structural installation needs, Orchid Digitals offers night glow signs in three tailored material types:
Glow-in-the-Dark Adhesive Vinyl Rolls: Best for smooth indoor surfaces. If you are installing safety messaging on glass partitions, panels, or laminated wooden doors, this pre-gummed sticker roll is perfect. Simply peel it from its release paper and stick it directly onto the spot.
Rigid Sunboard Signboards: Best for rough walls. Standard sticker adhesives cannot properly grip rough, textured surfaces like stucco walls. For these applications, we mount the print on a 5mm thick plastic PVC sheet known as Sunboard. It is incredibly lightweight, perfectly smooth, yet highly rigid, letting you effortlessly nail or drill the signboard onto workspace walls.
Heavy-Duty ACP Signboards: Best for extreme outdoor conditions. When signs must be mounted outdoors on metal stands or fixed to external metal poles, sunboard sheets can suffer from cracks, dents, or damage due to strong winds. To resolve this, we mount the design onto a highly durable 3mm thick Aluminium Composite Panel (ACP). This metal-backed sheet is lightweight yet exceptionally strong, resistant to physical impacts, and completely rustproof against heavy rain, ensuring a long operational life.
Installing your night glow vinyl prints is a breeze. Our vinyl stickers come pre-gummed with a high-tack adhesive layer protected by a 100-micron release liner. To install perfectly without wrinkles or air pockets, follow these simple steps:
First, mist a little soapy water onto the clean surface or wall.
Peel back the top edge of the 100-micron release liner and gently align it.
Start pasting from the top edge and gradually work your way down the surface.
Use a squeegee to smooth out the vinyl smoothly. The squeegee systematically works out air pockets and bubbles, while the soapy water gives you the flexibility to reposition and perfectly adjust the print before the adhesive sets.
As the water is pushed out, it creates a perfect vacuum under the print, causing the vinyl to lie completely flat, free of creases. Finally, press down along all the edges with your hands to secure it firmly.
Note: For the Sunboard and ACP signboard variants, you skip the water completely—simply use nails to hammer them down or a drill to securely mount them onto any structure.
