Safety Signs – Detailed Description
Industries require a lot of safety signboards. Factories, shop floors, office blocks, malls, hotels, theatres, etc., are all places where a large number of people gather. And where you have large crowds, you need direction boards with safety symbols to guide the people.
Safety signs and symbols primarily warn of workplace hazards and instruct employees on the proper precautions to take, to avoid injuries. Safety symbols like many workplace safety signs and symbols can prove to be life-saving in the event of an emergency, especially construction safety signs. To give you an idea, I am listing some examples of safety signs below:
- Fire Evacuation Maps: This map pinpoints your location in an unfamiliar environment and also highlights the location of the nearest exit.
- Emergency Exit Signs: These safety warning signs point an arrow to the nearest exit that people can run towards, in case of an emergency. These can also be photoluminescent exit signs.
- Restricted Area Board: Certain areas in a complex are restricted and have limited access. So safety signs and symbols forbidding (or restricting) entry to these locations is needed.
- Assembly Point Board: These boards mark the location where people are supposed to assemble in case of an emergency.
- Use of Safety Equipment Signs: On factory shop floors, it is mandatory to put on safety gear like hard hats, goggles, gloves, etc. while working with certain machinery. These boards highlight the need to do so.

OSHA Safety Signage
In 2013, OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration ) updated the safety signs standard. Safety posters were to include pictograms and symbols to convey the message. Messaging and text must include hazard type, consequence and avoidance statements. As per OSHA’s guidelines, safety posters broadly fall under the following categories:
- DANGER (Red and White): These signs are used in hazardous situations that can result in death or serious injury. These signs must be accompanied by an alert symbol.
- CAUTION (yellow and black): Caution signage is used in a situation that may result in minor or moderate injury. An alert symbol is required only in situations that result in property damage.
- NOTICE (blue and white): These signs are used to communicate company policy.
- EMERGENCY (green and white): These emergency signs identify safety equipment and safe work practices.
While creating the above artworks, we have taken care to use the above color combination for the relevant signs.
Order Your Safety Signs

- Safety Signs Made of Photo Vinyl, mounted on 5 mm thick Sunboard: The signs are printed on waterproof vinyl. They are laminated to increase ruggedness and durability. Further, we mount them on a 5 mm thick and rigid sheet of plastic (also called sunboard). These rigid boards can now be easily pasted or drilled, in place.
- Safety Signs Made of Night Glow media mounted on 5 mm thick Sunboard: In this option, the sign is made of a material called nightglow. Nightglow safety boards are printed on a special radium vinyl. This vinyl absorbs light during the day. It then emits a highly visible glow at night or when in complete darkness. Nightglow boards are used extensively for creating fire hazard signs, fire evacuation maps and emergency exit boards.
Fire Evacuation Maps
Fire evacuation maps are another big requirement that is fulfilled at Orchid Digitals. In fact, they are a mandatory requirement for many commercial buildings. FEM designs and layouts are generally provided by the clients’ architects. We then print these maps on vinyl and mount them on a 5 mm thick sunboard. The resulting poster can then be easily pasted or nailed to the walls at the customer’s location.
Swimming Pool Rules
Housing societies and even hotels need a sign listing rules for using their pool. To that effect we have designed a Pool Rules’ poster which you can freely download. It contains the standard instructions for the use of the swimming pool to ensure the safety of the swimmers. These include: No running, No Diving, No Pushing, No Rough Play, No Shouting, No Pets, No Bombing, No Food or Drinks and finally No Drugs or Alcohol.
The rules also mandate the use of the Shower, the Restroom and exhorts adults to watch over their children.
Most importantly the ‘Pool Rules’ sign board reserves the right to evict swimmers not following the above rules.

Our prints have two form factors:
1. Prints with a sticker/adhesive back that can be directly pasted on any smooth surface
2. Prints mounted on a rigid sheet of ACP (aluminium composite panel) or sunboard. These plates can then be nailed to any metal pole, frame or wall.
The minimum size of print we can process is 3 feet X 4 feet. For sizes smaller than this the billing amount still remains the same as that of size 3 feet X 4 feet.
Yes. You can lay out multiple different designs or artworks in one print. As long as it matches our MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity) we will be fine with processing the job.
Yes. Online payments are accepted at Orchid Digitals. In fact we try to finish the entire job online. All you need to do is mail us your artwork/design file along with the requisite dimensions, material specifications, copies needed, etc.
After evaluating/understanding your project requirement we send across an estimate for the same. This estimate (in the form of a Proforma Invoice) will also contain an online paylink encoded in a QR code.

Once the funds are transferred, we process the job and the ship the same across to you.
