High Resolution Photo Prints on Canvas Material Wrapped Around a Gallery Frame
HSN/SAC: 9989
Introduction
Prints on canvas are our top-selling item. And in this variant, we take your artwork, images, designs or photographs and reproduce the same at an extremely high resolution on a flexible roll of 100% natural cotton canvas.
The print is then stretched tightly around a wooden frame, making the product ready to use. You simply hang the frame on a wall inside your home or office to display your artwork beautifully on our canvas material.
Description

And, of course, this material is also eco-friendly.
At Orchid Digitals, we use a thick 400 gsm canvas material. And any printed image reproduced on this roll looks super premium. This thickness also ensures that when you unroll the print, it is completely free of creases or unsightly wrinkles.
The thick canvas material is then stretched as tight as the skin of a drum around a wooden frame. The frame on which canvas prints are wrapped is called a stretcher frame. This frame is made of wooden sections joined to create a square/rectangle.
And the canvas print is secured around this frame. The print is held in place with glue. Additionally, we also staple the print to the back of the frame for extra support. This ensures that your canvas print will never loosen or fall off from the frame behind.
The wooden frame is fully covered by the print, which wraps around its edges. Such edge-wrapped prints are also referred to as a ‘gallery wrap’ (like the paintings displayed in art galleries).
To achieve this effect, we take your image and extend its background a few inches beyond its borders. For example, if you need a 2-foot by 3-foot rectangular print which has a red background, we extend the red background a few inches on all four sides of the painting
We then place the print on a wooden frame and pull the image tightly around it. Much like how you pull a bed cover tightly around the mattress beneath. And to hold the print in place (so that it does not retract back), we glue and staple the canvas fabric to the back of the frame.
This type of framing creates a gallery wrap or full-bleed effect, where the image extends around the edges of the frame.
And these framed canvas prints look absolutely stunning.
Gallery frames are made of an inch-thick wooden section (or sometimes a PVC pipe. The print fully conceals the actual frame. You cannot see the edge of the frame, even when viewed from the side.
This is because, as mentioned above, the image on the canvas media flows over the sides and wraps around the frame entirely, much like the cover of a notebook.
When installed, this gallery-framed canvas print protrudes slightly from the wall. And this raised effect of our print is very visually appealing.

5 mm Thick Sunboard Print Cost Calculator
Introduction
This variant is our most popular poster panel, with a very simple construction. You get a high-resolution photo print reproduced on an extremely lightweight PVC plastic sheet. If you are on a budget, you can opt for the 3 mm thick plastic shape sheet. Alternatively, go for the slightly more premium 5 mm thick sunburn, which is more rigid and has a more premium feel.
Description
A print on our 3-mm-thick sunboard is our most popular item. Besides being visually appealing, it is also very economical.
You can use a stud cap to mount it on the wall. Additionally, a 3 mm-thick sunboard is so lightweight that you can attach it to a wall or glass surface with double-sided tape.
We recommend choosing a 3 mm-thick print only if you can provide extra support. For instance, if you plan to drill the poster into the wall, opt for a 3 mm-thick PVC sheet to save money.
However, for prints that need more strength, or for prints that need to stand erect all by themselves, you might prefer the thicker 5-mm foamsheet variant for your project.

A 3-mm thick sunboard print gets the job done in most use cases. However, the material lacks sufficient strength to stand on its own. For example, if you place this sunboard print on an easel stand, it may not stand upright, or it may bend in the centre. Alternatively, you might require a more premium-looking PVC sheet print.
We also offer sunboard prints that are 5 mm thick, a more premium option than 3 mm prints. Along with a classy appearance, this material is stronger. A 5-mm-thick sunboard will not dent as easily as a 3 mm sheet. When held in the hand, or even when this thicker sheet is installed on a wall, it gives a sturdier look and is more impressive than the 3-mm-thick sunboard print.
The 5 mm sunboard is also required for smaller-sized prints. For example, if a 3 mm thick, handheld print (like a restaurant menu card) wilts, it will create a bad impression. In this case, using thicker and more rigid material makes sense. When the same menu card is printed on a 5MM thick sunboard sheet, it stands stiff and erect in the client’s hands and gives off a more premium feel
Moreover, while most of our competitors stop at 5 mm, Orchid Digitals offers prints on WPC sheets as thick as 10 mm and 15 mm, as you will see in the next section.

Product Specifications
- At Orchid Digitals, we offer sunboard / foamsheet prints that typically consist of two layers, with an optional third layer of lamination. The base layer is made of a white plastic sheet that we call sunboard. We then paste a printed image onto this plastic sheet. Finally, we apply a protective lamination over the printed image. This top coat of lamination is available in two finishes: matte and glossy. Here are the specs of this product:
- High-resolution photo print reproduced on inkjet-printed vinyl
- Using eco-solvent inks or UV inks
- Image is reproduced using the CMYK colour gamut
- The image is printed on a 100-micron-thick vinyl media. We use standard-quality brands such as LSM™, SGM™, Onyx™, GCO™, etc. We also stock higher quality brands like 3M™ and Avery™ (although the same are charged at a higher price point)
- The print is pasted/mounted on a smooth and lightweight plastic panel
- You can choose from two thicknesses of either a 3-mm or a 5-mm thick base sheet
- This pasting is done on our industrial-grade hydraulic laminator to ensure a smooth, bubble-free, and wrinkle-free finish
- You can also opt for an additional top coat of lamination on your printed image
- You have a choice of a matte or glossy finish of lamination for your prints
- Lamination will enhance the life of the print by protecting the image from dust, water, scratches & everyday wear and tear
- Lamination is done on our industrial-grade hydraulic laminator for a smooth, bubble and wrinkle-free finish
- High-resolution photo print reproduced on inkjet-printed vinyl
Installation Process / How To Use This Product
Since they are extremely lightweight, sunboard/foam sheet prints are also very easy to install on the walls inside your office or even on the glass partitions.
- Sunboard prints can be drilled/nailed to the walls or partitions in your office
- For a better look, you can even use mirror cap screws in place of ordinary nails to drill the sun boards in place
- In case you’re planning to install these prints on a smooth surface like a glass panel, you can use two-sided tape to easily paste the foam shape prints in place
Applications
Sunboard foam sheet prints have numerous uses in advertising and product presentation. Here is a list of some of these applications.
- Use for advertisement posters
- Use for posters on the walls in a corporate office
- Use for placement in easel stands
- Use for displaying product images and company services
- Use for presentation in exhibitions
- Use for large-sized photo reproduction
- Use for name/address boards, outside offices, etc.
How do we calculate the Price Of Your Canvas Printing Job?
Canvas printing is charged on the basis of the Area of your design file. The unit of measure is Square Feet. So you need to first determine the size (both Length and Width of the artwork that needs to be reproduced on cotton canvas).
Quick tip: If you plan to hang the photo frame inside your house, a print of size 3 feet X 2 feet should suffice. For commercial spaces like an office, you can opt for larger sizes like 4 feet by 5 feet.
Now, if you select the first option from the above two variants, i.e. Canvas print in a Roll Form, you will see that its [Printing Rate Per Square Foot] = Rs. 150 plus taxes. Further, if you have an image of size 3 feet Width by 4 feet Height, the Area in Square Feet of your job = 3 * 4 = 12 Square Feet
So, [Cost of The Printing Job] = [Printing Rate Per Square Foot] * [Area in Square Feet] i.e. Rs. 150 * 12 = Rs. 1800 + 18% GST = Rs. 2124.00
And if you select the second option from the above two variants i.e. Framed Canvas Prints Stretched on A Wooden Frame, you will see that its [Printing Rate Per Square Foot] = Rs. 350 plus taxes.
So, [Cost of The Printing Job] = [Printing Rate Per Square Foot] * [Area in Square Feet] i.e. Rs. 350 * 12 = Rs. 4200 + 18% GST = Rs. 4956.00
What is Cotton Canvas? Why Choose It for Printing?
Cotton canvas is a fabric made of natural fibres that provides a high-end, premium look and feel. It’s sturdy yet incredibly versatile, making it the go-to choice for artists, photographers, and designers to showcase their work.
When used for digital printing, the canvas absorbs colours beautifully, making images come to life with rich textures and stunning vibrancy. Unlike traditional paper or glossy photo prints, our cotton canvas delivers understated elegance. No flashy glares—just pure artwork, as it’s meant to be seen.
What are the Applications of Custom Canvas Prints Mounted On A Wooden Frame?
In addition to portraits and family photos, personalised canvas prints are primarily used for painting reproductions. Nature photography, product images, and food shots are also excellent options for this medium. We also provide canvas pictures to customers who create decorative wall hangings and even lampshades!
Here is an exhaustive, but not comprehensive, list of applications for canvas prints.
Create Copies of Original Paintings
If you’ve ever felt a pang of desire for a masterpiece but found originals way out of budget, here’s a secret. Our custom canvas prints can recreate those artworks with stunning accuracy. The natural texture of canvas adds an extra layer of authenticity, making it nearly indistinguishable from the original piece, yet fitting comfortably within your budget!
And there is a reason why our clients demand this authentic-looking reproduction.
Click for more details.
Let’s assume for a moment that you are a master artist. You hold an exhibition where your masterpieces sell for lakhs of rupees. While the wealthy connoisseurs can afford to buy your expensive originals, other art lovers will seek reproductions at a more affordable price.
Artists scan the original painting and create multiple copies of it, each digitally printed onto canvas. This process is called ‘painting reproduction on canvas’.
These days, many modern artists skip the manual painting step entirely. They create their artwork on digital apps or maybe even by using AI. And our printing facility helps to give a physical form to their digital creations.
Family Portraits on Canvas and Prints of High-Quality Images
Why settle for run-of-the-mill decor items when you can adorn your home with personal memories? Whether it’s that breathtaking sunset from your last holiday or a precious family portrait, have them printed on our robust canvas media, framed beautifully on wooden frames to add a touch of warmth and personality to any room.
Prints on photo paper look good. But when the same images are reproduced as custom canvas prints, they look absolutely stunning.

A photo print on canvas is the right choice for premium applications like wedding photos, family portraits, model photography, high-quality vacation pics, etc.
Spur-of-the-moment selfies can be printed as ordinary colour prints. But planned photoshoots always bring out your true beauty. And these high-resolution images have to be immortalised on canvas.
Home and Office Interior Decor
Set the right tone in your office or business space with canvas prints that reflect corporate values, your mission, or your vision. Alternatively, display motivational posters, abstract designs or serene landscapes that provide visual breaks from the busy workspace, enhancing creativity and productivity.
Inkjet-printed canvas is an ideal interior decor solution. These prints are framed, converted into wall hangings and even fitted in light fixtures to enhance your home and office decor. Here are some of the ways custom canvas prints are used for interior decoration.
Tiled Canvas Prints – A Unique Idea for A Wall Mural
Here is a novel idea for a wall mural that is guaranteed to grab your visitors’ attention.
Most canvas wall art is generated as a single piece and fitted into a single frame. But in this case, we break up one large image into smaller parts or tiles. These tiles are individually framed and placed on the wall with a small gap between each one.
The overall effect is of one continuous image flowing across several discrete frames. Such a mural is unique and looks very fetching.
Canvas Wall Hangings
Canvas wall hangings are another popular interior decoration idea. Here, the prints are not stretched tightly on a frame but are left loosely hanging. You just drape the print on the wall, very much like a curtain.
While most other fabrics and cloth banners are pretty thin, our canvas material is as thick as a burlap sack. And so, the ‘fall’ of the print on the wall looks pretty classy.
Custom Printed Lampshades
One of our customers has developed a highly innovative application for this product. Mr. Sanju of Thakur Lamp Shades uses our canvas prints to create customised lamp shades.
He first prints out some pretty stunning designs on canvas at our outlet. This printed fabric is then stretched around cylindrical frames with a light source placed within. And when this light is switched on, you get a lampshade decorated with your custom designs.
You can easily purchase generic lamps and chandeliers from the market. However, Mr. Thakur can enhance your decor by providing light fixtures that showcase your designs, company logo, or even product images!
Art School Projects
Art school students have another lesser-known application for canvas prints. They order half-finished, ‘bare bones’ prints. For example, a student might source an image showing an outline of a horse.
They then use their own paints, oils, charcoal, etc., to fill in the outline. They even add scenery in the background, like a field or a stream.
Essentially, this ‘half-printed’ or partially printed canvas acts as a foundation for much more impressive, naturally painted creations. This process is only made possible because the media we use for our canvas prints is 100% natural cotton canvas. And artists can easily hand-paint on this material using their oil or water colours.
Abstract Paintings and Wall Murals
Canvas wall art is very popular among interior decorators. Architects and suave homemakers routinely use large photo prints of digital paintings, abstracts, or nature photography to adorn their living spaces.
How to Ensure the Perfect Canvas Print of Your Photos?
Scrolling through the internet for canvas printing services can feel like swimming in a sea of choices. A quick search throws up hundreds of options, each promising the best results for your photo prints on canvas. But here’s the catch. Not all vendors live up to their claims. And making the wrong choice could leave you with subpar prints that fail to capture the magic of your memories.
At Orchid Digitals, we believe that canvas photo printing should be nothing short of perfect. And being informed is the first step to reaching that goal. Let’s walk you through everything that goes into creating canvas prints that are durable, vibrant, and truly premium.
1. Choosing the Right Material: 100% Natural Cotton Canvas
When you hear “canvas,” you might picture robust, textured cloth—like the kind artists use for their paintings. And rightly so! A quality canvas print should be created using fabric made of natural fibres, ensuring a premium touch and feel. But here’s something you should watch out for.
Click for more details.
Some vendors take shortcuts by using cheap plastic substitutes that mimic the texture of cotton canvas. While this synthetic media might look passable at first glance, it lacks the richness and durability of the real thing. Prints made from plastic canvas not only look tacky but are prone to cracking, especially when stretched over wooden frames—a crucial step in the canvas mounting process.
At Orchid Digitals, we cut no corners. We use 100% natural cotton canvas, a material that guarantees an exquisite finish. The beauty of cotton canvas lies in its subtle flexibility, allowing it to wrap around wooden frames seamlessly without any risk of damage. Whether you’re thinking of a family portrait, artwork reproduction, or scenic photography, prints on cotton canvas offer unmatched clarity and elegance.
So, here’s the takeaway: don’t settle for anything less than natural cotton canvas. Your memories deserve the best foundation.
2. Opting for Waterproof and Weather-resistant Inks
Durability matters just as much as beauty when it comes to canvas prints. After all, your favourite family photo or once-in-a-lifetime travel shot isn’t just an image—it’s a memory meant to last for decades. But not all prints can stand the test of time.
Here’s the problem: if your vendor uses low-quality inks, your canvas prints might fade, smudge, or lose vibrancy after mere months of exposure to sunlight or moisture. You deserve to invest in a product that keeps your image looking as fresh as the day it was printed.
Click for more details.
At Orchid Digitals, our eco-solvent and UV inks are engineered to withstand extreme conditions. Whether exposed to sunlight indoors or left out in the rain (yes, we’ve tested it!), our prints remain vivid and stunning for years. Here’s what makes them special:
- Waterproof and scratch-resistant: No daily wear and tear can mar the brilliance of the colours.
- Sunlight immunity: The prints won’t fade, even after prolonged outdoor use.
As proof of longevity, we often showcase one of our favourite prints here—a family portrait (shown above) we created nearly two decades ago. Despite its age, the colours remain as crisp and striking as they were on day one. That’s the quality you can expect from an Orchid Digitals canvas print.
3. High-resolution Images & Professional-grade Printers
Just as a recipe’s success depends on its ingredients, the quality of your canvas prints hinges on the source image. A low-resolution file will lead to pixelated, blurry results—something no one wants to see hanging on their walls. To get those sharp, crisp details, make sure your image has a resolution of at least 300 DPI (dots per inch). And if you can go higher, even better!
But here’s another crucial factor often overlooked: the printer itself. Many online services rely on basic, home-office printers that can only deliver mediocre results. While these machines might be fine for everyday paperwork, they’re simply no match for industrial wide-format printers used by professionals.
Click for more details.
At Orchid Digitals, we use cutting-edge printers from industry leaders like Mimaki and Roland, designed for ultra-high-resolution outputs. Here’s why our machines stand apart:
- Massive print sizes: From small artworks to larger-than-life wall graphics, our printers handle it all effortlessly.
- Speed & efficiency: We can churn out hundreds of square feet of canvas prints within a matter of hours.
- Picture-perfect clarity: From vibrant colours to razor-sharp details, our technology guarantees unmatched visual appeal.
The result? Canvas prints that capture every shade, every detail, and every emotion just perfectly.
Make the Right Choice, One Print at a Time
Not all canvas prints are created equal. For stunning photo reproductions that last, you need the perfect combination of natural materials, durable inks, high-resolution images, and advanced printing technology. At Orchid Digitals, we have perfected this process, giving you results that are guaranteed to impress.
So, when it’s time to turn your photos into beautiful works of art, don’t settle for the cheapest option or the quickest delivery. Invest in quality that lasts a lifetime. Because the moments you immortalise deserve nothing less than perfection.
Why Choose Orchid Digitals for Ordering Your Canvas Prints?
When it comes to transforming your cherished photos into stunning canvas prints, the choice of where you print matters. At Orchid Digitals, we don’t just deliver a product—we craft a masterpiece. Here’s why we’re the perfect partner for your canvas printing needs.

We have a meticulous process in place to ensure your canvas print turns out exactly as envisioned.

In many cases, our team works with you to tweak colours, brightness, and contrast to achieve the best possible output. (Of course, only with your approval!)
- One-on-One Quality Control: Once the file is perfected, we print it on our high-end machines. For extra assurance, clients are welcome to visit our press in Pune to see the process firsthand and ensure satisfaction.
- No-Risk Replacement Guarantee: If something doesn’t go as planned—even after all the safety checks—we replace the job. No questions asked. Rest assured, your print project is in safe hands.
Size Options That Go Beyond Limits
Most printing vendors can only supply canvas prints with a maximum width of 2 feet (60 cm). But Orchid Digitals takes large-format printing to a whole new level.
- Massive Printers for Massive Outputs: Our printers can handle canvas rolls up to 1.6 meters wide! We also stock rolls of 3, 4, and 5 feet in width.
- Standard Sizes or Custom Creations: While customers often opt for popular sizes like 2’x3’ or 3’x4’, we can go beyond—and far bigger. Imagine creating a 10-foot-wide wall-spanning print to transform your space into a head-turning gallery.
Whether it’s a modest art piece or a sprawling mural, we have you covered.
How are Custom Canvas Prints Made?
Ever wondered how your favourite photos or artwork are transformed into stunning canvas prints? At Orchid Digitals, this process is a perfect blend of technology, craftsmanship, and creativity. Let’s break it down for you step by step!
The Essentials of Canvas Printing
To create a vibrant and beautiful canvas print, four key ingredients come into play:
A High-Resolution Image
The first step starts with your file. Whether it’s a cherished family photo or a favourite piece of artwork, the image needs to be sharp and high-quality for the best results.
A Roll of Printable Canvas Fabric
This fabric forms the base of your print. Canvas gives your photo a premium, textured finish that looks far richer than a standard paper print.
A Wide-Format Inkjet Printer
Think of this as the backbone of the operation. These advanced machines are designed to handle the intricate details of large photo reproductions.
Raster Image Processor (RIP) Software
A crucial interface that bridges the gap between your computer file and the printer, ensuring the image is flawlessly transferred onto the canvas.
Step 1: Loading the Canvas Roll
We start by mounting a massive roll of canvas onto one of our wide-format inkjet printers. These rolls can range from three to five feet in width, giving you the flexibility to print larger-than-life visuals!
What’s even better? The rolls stretch for hundreds of feet in length, meaning there’s virtually no limit to how long your print can be—whether you’re dreaming of a compact 2’x3’ artwork or a wall-sized mural.
Step 2: File Processing with RIP Software
Next comes the magic of file preparation.
Your image is loaded into RIP software (short for Raster Image Processor). Think of RIP as the translator that speaks to the printer.
It processes your file—from formats like JPG, PDF, EPS, or BMP—and converts it into tiny printable dots that the machine understands.
Additionally, RIP software lets us fine-tune your file to perfection. Features like:
- Resizing: Want a massive hero print or something more modest? RIP scales your image accordingly without compromising quality.
- Colour Correction: We adjust colours, brightness, and contrast to make your image pop.
- Ink Level Optimisation: This ensures precision so your print comes out sharp and vivid.
Step 3: Printing The Masterpiece
Now comes the exciting part! With everything set to perfection, we hit the ‘print’ button, and your canvas is brought to life on our cutting-edge machines.
These printers reproduce your image with exceptional detail, vibrant colours, and no visible pixelation—even on massive prints. The result? A custom canvas print that looks like art gallery pieces.
FAQs | Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, we do.
Canvas prints are one of top selling products. These prints look stunningly beautiful. And we use only the highest quality media for the same.
A lot of our clients do in fact buy prints from us and further work on the same in their studios. They use their brushes and pencils to further decorate and embellish the printed job.
And this process works just fine on the media we supply.
We prefer to work with our own media because the same is tried and tested.
No. Unfortunately we cannot. Our machine works on large sized rolls only.
Currently this service is suspended.
The inks we use are pretty rugged and resistant to water damage. So an additional sheet of glass on top is not really needed.
We print on rolls that have 3, 4, or 5 feet width. This means that you order a job having a maximum width of 5 feet. The length of the print can be as much, as you want it to.
Many of our competitors use textured rolls of plastic to mimic the look of original cotton canvas. But unfortunately, these prints end up looking tacky, cheap and plasticky.
Our prints on the other hand are outputted on the highest grade of materials and at the highest possible resolutions.
We can work with a variety of file formats. Do share your job as a .jpg, .pdf, .png, Corel Draw for EPS file.
